Went into Georgetown today and Cathy got her hair braided, much more comfortable in the heat and should be much easier to manage when sailing! In the afternoon we went to “Chat & Chill”, a cruisers hangout on Stocking Island for dinner. As soon as we docked, we were walking along the beach and we Read More

February 24, Motored to Georgetown, Bahamas.
Wind was too weak so we had to motor to Georgetown. We got here and anchored amongst hundreds of other cruising boats. Finally got half-decent Internet at the boat, (pay service, not free) and were able to Skype with family, update blog and do some grocery shopping. The dinghy dock at the Exema grocery is Read More
February 23, Left Rum Cay for Calabash Bay
Heading out from Rum Cay with very little wind. Decided it would be a good day to try out our fancy new spinnaker! Got everything set up and running on the first try! What a great looking sail, kept us going at about 5 knots in the light winds. As we were sailing along, the Read More
February 18-22, Hiding out from high winds at Rum Cay
Spent several days at Rum Cay, walked around the town, population 67, met a nice gentleman named “Ben” that took us on a trip all around the island on his golf cart showing us all the things and telling us stories of about the island. He’s hoping to re-open the marina on the southeast side Read More
February 17, Heading back towards home, sailing north to Rum Cay
This morning we left Clarence Town (not very well protected from an upcoming storm) and headed for Rum Cay. It was pretty windy and we had a great day sailing and even saw dolphins during our trip, the first time since we’d left Florida. We anchored at Rum Cay and spent the night.
February 15, Heading out on overnight passage to Rum Cay… er, Clarence Town – Major decisions made about our sailing future!
Left Big Majors at around noon and started an overnight passage to Rum Cay. Things were pretty smooth throughout the day and into the evening, but the winds shifted and increased, and waves picked up as the night wore on. Overcast skies and the moon not appearing until 4:30am made keeping watch pretty nerve-wracking… As Read More
February 14, Happy Valentines Day!
Today I climbed the mast again, in an attempt to replace the bulbs in the steaming and mooring lights… I discovered that I had the wrong bulbs, and as I was trying to re-assemble the steaming light the wind came up and bumped into the mast, causing all the pieces of the steaming light to Read More
February 13, Walked around Staniel Cay
We took the dinghy over to Staniel Cay and walked around the town for a few hours, had a nice lunch in the restaurant and got some gas for the dinghy/generator. The anchorage there was very busy with many mega-yachts and sailboats all around.
February 12, Motor-sailed to Big Majors, caught up with friends
Nice day today heading to Big Majors.. where upon arrival we caught up with Reid and Rheta aboard sv:Amel, then we all went to see the “swimming pigs” on the beach. That evening we enjoyed a great chicken curry dinner on their boat and talked about our last few days. It was very refreshing to Read More
February 11, Recovery from bad night, nice day sailing to Elbow Cay
Sailed south to try and get the bad taste out of our mouths from Allen Cay. Anchored behind a big rock island called Elbow Cay, and had a great night, much needed and appreciated.
