Duet update, Tuesday May 23. 1:00am watch. Fishing was a little more interesting yesterday evening, got a big hit from something, pulled out almost all the line, set the drag to full, kept pulling even more out… Line cut, lost lure. Feeling like whatever it was, we probably couldn’t have landed it or ate it, so it can have the lure. 30 minutes later hooked a small Mahi-Mahi, probably just under 2 feet , got him all the way to the swim step, just before getting the gaffing hook on him he snapped the line (no long gaffing hook this trip) so another lure and a tasty snack gone. But at least I’m starting to hook something besides kelp. Our speed has increased to 6 knots or so, the wind generator is singing, it’s a good morning with wind from around 265 degrees. Cloudy ahead with lots of stars directly overhead. Hope to pass the halfway point sometime today. Current location: maps.google.com/maps?q=position@26.828890,-87.078949&z=12&t=m
