Found that locals here are amazing. We decided to save some $$ by not taking a ferry or renting a golf cart to go the 2-3 miles to town, so we walked. Here’s a picture of Cathy holding up a palm tree along the way…
Within less than a half mile, a nice gentleman in a golf cart with a trailer who was heading to the dump offered to take us at least as far as the dump road intersection. We walked another 1/4 mile and stopped off at a quiet little beach…
Before we’d gone 100 yards from the beach, a nice lady offered to give us a ride the rest of the way to town. When we got to town, she took us around and showed us where things were and gave us a small tour and advice on where to shop and where to eat. From there we walked around the small town and finally went to a place to eat that she’d recommended.
There we met a nice couple and shared a table with them during lunch at the “Two Shorties Take-Away”… Excellent conch!
After lunch we went to the hardware store so I could look for a part I needed to finish installing the watermaker (failed), and we ran into the same couple again. They said they were on their way up north and could give us a ride back to the anchorage… We gladly accepted, and learned more about the island and things happening there as we flew down the road on the back of their golf cart. Here’s a selfie on the back of the cart…
They dropped us at the dinghy dock and we headed off to find our friends Reid and Rheta from the sailing vessel “Amel”.
Here’s a picture of the nice dock at Green Turtle Marina.
Tomorrow we’re going to take a close look at weather and think about heading to Marsh Harbor, we’ll probably head out towards there on Thursday or Friday.
